Archaeologists in England Discover Ancient Roman Mosaic

A mosaic depicting a battle in between Achilles and Hector during the final days of the Trojan War has been found underneath a farmer’s field. The University of Leicester Archaeological Services, the same team that found the remains of King Richard III in 2012, found the Roman Mosaic in the East Midlands of the UK.

Found in a cave in southern Poland, a 41,500-year-old pendant carved from a piece of mammoth tusk could be the oldest known example of decorated jewelry in Eurasia. The pendant, decorated with puncture holes that create a loop, was found with other objects, including a tool made from horse bone that was used to make holes.
