While every day is an employee-owned day at Metcalf, the month of October is Employee-Ownership month!
Since 2014, Metcalf has been 100% employee-owned and operated. This means our employees are stockholders for Metcalf as part of an Employee Stock Ownership plan, or an ESOP. An ESOP allows every Metcalf employee-owner to take pride in our history, as we divide our company shares to employees as a retirement plan.
“Employee-owned companies are often known for having inclusive cultures—cultures that aspire to make employees feel like the owners they are.”
But being an owner isn’t just about owning stock – it’s about the sense of ownership and personal interest in the success of every project. Everyone is an owner, whether it’s an intern helping create materials for public education, an archaeological technician out in the field, or a software engineer developing a new app!
Over the last year, Metcalf has been involved in many projects, such as the James Peak Survey, investigations in South Dakota, the Astor House in Golden Colorado, and countless other surveys and investigations. Each new project is an opportunity for our team to understand, share, and protect cultural resources through applied sciences and public outreach. One perk of having a company of employee-owners is everyone has the dedication and enthusiasm to successfully complete projects with a focus on the clients, community, and each other.
At Metcalf, not only are we colleagues, but friends and family as well. We laugh, create, discover, educate, and lead together. Every employee has a voice and brings in a unique and valuable perspective to the company. Even as some of us work from home, in the office, or in the field, we continue working together to tell the story of the human past for today’s community while investing in the future.
So here’s to the employee-owners at Metcalf, where success for one means success for all.
