Heritage Experiences
Cultural heritage is not just a thing of the past, but, rather, it lives in each one of us and in every community. Metcalf is committed to improving the accessibility of heritage so that it can be appreciated by the public for generations to come. Currently, we partner with the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation and the Lamb Spring Archaeological Preserve to offer tours of the sites to the public. We also support HistoriCorps, a nonprofit, to offer volunteers hands-on experience preserving historic structures. Our staff also regularly provide informational lectures and experiences about archaeology and preservation for classrooms and public events.
Danger Cave
Join professional archaeologists on a tour of two of Utah’s most important archaeological sites. Danger Cave and Juke Box Cave are located within the Danger Cave State Park Heritage Area. Locked gates protect these sites from vandalism. Metcalf Archaeology™ and the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation have partnered to provide limited public tours to Danger Cave State Heritage Area.
Lamb Spring
Lamb Spring Archaeological Preserve (LSAP) began in 2006 when a group of interested stakeholders combined their talents to found an organization dedicated to careful stewardship and interpretation of LSAP. Metcalf partners with Lamb Spring to offer tours of the archaeological site.
HistoriCorps
HistoriCorps is a nonprofit organization that provides volunteers of all skill levels with hands-on experience preserving historic structures on public lands across America. Volunteers work with HistoriCorps field staff to learn preservation skills and put those skills to use by saving historic places that have fallen into disrepair. HistoriCorps works to ensure America’s cultural and historical resources exist for generations to come.
FactorEarth™ Explore
Metcalf Archaeology™ launched FactorEarth™ with the goal of making our heritage immersive and easy to interact with. Since then, we’ve created FactorEarth™ Explore. Explore is an app that reveals the stories around us using virtual reality. It immerses us in meaningful experiences about our culture, environment, history, and more.
Explore amazing places like Danger Cave, Astor House Preservation, and more from the comfort of your home or the classroom! Teachers can also use our free lesson plans to build a learning experience for their students.
