I joined Metcalf in 2014 after working for several years at a similar firm. I have more than two decades of archaeological experience in the Western and Central United States. My duties include overseeing and conducting all stages of fieldwork, laboratory work, and reporting. I have experience managing prehistoric and historic survey, excavation, construction monitoring, prehistoric artifact analysis, and technical report production.
Kimball Banks

I have more than 40 years of experience in cultural resource management and heritage preservation, of which 26 years were in the federal sector and the rest in the private, tribal, and academic sectors. My current responsibilities involve marketing to clients, monitoring developments in the industries we serve, and assisting local communities and organizations in addressing heritage preservation and compliance issues.
Wyatt Berry

I started at Metcalf in 2023. My background includes conducting fieldwork in North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Georgia, and Virginia. As a field technician at Metcalf, my responsibilities involve processing artifacts, conducting field surveys, shovel testing, writing site forms, and the occasional metal detecting survey. When I’m not working, I like hiking, camping, and playing video games with my girlfriend.
Amy Bleier

I began work in archaeology in 1996 at the University of North Dakota. I have worked across the Northern and Central Plains, most often in North Dakota. My past experiences include field and lab work at the University of North Dakota, GIS analysis in the private sector, lab work at History Nebraska, and 16 years in review and compliance at the North Dakota State Historic Preservation Office. At Metcalf, my project duties comprise field survey, testing, monitoring, and report writing. My professional interests include precontact archaeology and historical cartography. I enjoy reading, watching British mysteries, and collecting art.
Bill Bluemle

I have been a professional archaeologist for over 20 years. Since joining Metcalf in 1999, I have worked on numerous projects in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming, I have also authored numerous technical reports for Federal, State, Tribal, and local agencies. My duties at Metcalf include conducting field surveys, testing, monitoring, supervising crew, interacting with clients and government agencies, and technical report writing.
Dierdre Bostyan

I joined Metcalf in 2012 and my role includes both office tasks and fieldwork. Office tasks include project and lab management, proposal development, report and site form writing, research, tribal consultation, training new staff members, editing GIS maps, and other administrative tasks. Fieldwork tasks include surveying, site recording, photo documentation, shovel probe and excavation, water screening, flotation, and artifact processing.

I was born with an insatiable passion for history and the human experience. At the age of 10, my first archaeological project took me to Bear Canyon near my hometown of Tucson, Arizona. From there a star was born. Just kidding. It took me years to find my feet as a professional archaeologist but now I live the dream. Since 2008, I have enjoyed leading Metcalf as General Manager and now as President and CEO.

I have experience primarily in Section 106 compliance and general architectural inventory, mostly focused in Colorado.
Melissa Elkins

I have been an Archaeologist since 1999 and joined Metcalf in 2007 where I am a project manager and the Eagle office Regional Project Coordinator. I prepare cost proposals, conduct field projects, write and review reports, and manage project logistics. My research interests include ceramic analysis and the archaeology of gender. Public education is dear to my heart and I teach college classes in Anthropology. I enjoy hiking and camping with my family.

I have worked in archaeology since 1992, and have been with Metcalf as a Principal Investigator since 2004. My research focuses on prehistoric quarries, and KRF distribution over time. I had the honor to prepare the nomination for the NHL Lynch KRF Quarry. As General Manager for Metcalf, my role includes oversight of the company’s growth, development of a sustainable management plan, and leading in employee engagement.

I joined Metcalf in June of 2020 as a GIS Technician. In December of 2019 I graduated with my Master’s Certificate in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) from the University of Denver. In addition to GIS, I have worked as a field tech in Alaska, Colorado, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, and Montana. As an archaeologist I love public archaeology and the prehistoric Native American nomadic populations. As a GIS Technician I am eager to expand my knowledge of mapping, cartographic design, and python scripting.

I began working for Metcalf in 2008 after working for 10 years on several academic projects in Belize and Mexico, as well as for a CRM firm in New York and Vermont. I specialize in lithic tool analysis and shell ornament technology. My role at Metcalf includes assisting with project coordination, staff needs, preparation of proposals, directing field projects, and site form and report writing. When not at work, I enjoy making cold process soaps.

I joined Metcalf in 2023 as a GIS Specialist after completing my masters in Anthropology at Colorado State University. I have GIS experience from internships and previous positions as a geospatial technician and analyst, but my passion has always been to apply GIS to archaeology. At Metcalf, I now provide GIS support for our various projects. Outside of work I enjoy playing music as well as outdoor activities like hiking and climbing.

Mike Jackson

I am a Principal Investigator that joined Metcalf in 2023; I began my career in 1990 and have been leading projects as a P.I. since 1998. I have directed/worked on projects throughout the Northern Plains, American Midwest, American Southwest, Northern Rockies, and Texas. My favorite research topics involve FCR/hot-rock technologies, geoarchaeology, zooarchaeology, lithic analysis, experimental archaeology, and the use of GIS in archaeological research. Away from work, I enjoy bicycling, hiking, camping, and landscape photography.

I joined Metcalf as a Content Marketing Intern in the summer of 2021 and have worked my way up to Content Marketing Specialist. I discovered my passion for archaeology and cultural anthropology at Kansas State University. I'm incredibly lucky to get to pair my enthusiasm for public archaeology with my love of design and writing. When I'm not working, you can find me collecting and listening to records, crocheting, or playing a riveting session of Dungeons & Dragons.

I joined Metcalf in 2009. As Operations Manager, my responsibilities include oversight of Metcalf’s offices, staff management and team support, and project administration. I also serve as project manager on large and small-scale projects, and have experience in conducting all phases of project work. My nearly 20 years of experience spans many states including California, Colorado, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming, in addition to working in the country of Belize.

I joined Metcalf in 2013, as a Principal Geoarchaeologist. I have more than 10 years of geoarchaeological experience working in the Western and Central United States, and Baja California, Mexico. Since joining Metcalf, I have conducted investigations in Colorado, Kansas, North and South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. My duties include managing all phases of geoarch fieldwork, laboratory analyses, and reporting; I also assist with all phases of non-geoarchaeological projects as needed.
Natasha Krasnow

I joined Metcalf in 2017 as a Staff Archaeologist. I have particular interests in historical archaeology, especially in concert with oral history and ethnography, and have additional research interests in the anthropology of place and the anthropology of dance. I am also passionate about public outreach and have extensive experience developing and conducting archaeology- and history-focused activities for the public. Otherwise, I am a lifelong dancer and am thoroughly obsessed with The Beatles.
Jennifer Borresen Lee

I joined Metcalf in 2003 and have over 20 years of experience in cultural resource compliance for energy development, transportation, and communication projects in the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains. I manage projects of all sizes and have worked with government agencies including the BLM, Forest Service, USBR, FCC, SHPOs, THPOs, Montana DNRC, Wyoming OSLI, and highway departments. I love to travel but am also content at home in Montana.

Anne McKibbin

I have been with Metcalf Archaeology since 1980, and became a full time, year round employee in 1988 after completing my M.A. Since then, I have worked my way up to Senior Staff Archaeologist and Project Manager. I now oversee some of the company’s larger projects, prepare proposals, and mentor staff in all aspects of the cultural resource management process. Outside of work, I enjoy whitewater rafting, and I serve as the Mayor of the Town of Eagle, Colorado.
Maggie Nagy
GIS Technician
I joined Metcalf in 2024 as a GIS Technician. I have an Associates degree in Geographic Information systems, and I have three years of experience working with spatial data. My role at Metcalf is to digitize, standardize, and manage spatial data. I utilize this data to create maps for company projects, and prepare online maps which our staff use to record new data while out in the field. In my free time I like to crochet, cook, travel, and explore the outdoors by hiking, kayaking, and tracking down geocaches.

I have over 28 years of experience in cultural resource management, 22 of which have been with Metcalf. My roles at Metcalf include managing projects and working with GIS. My research interests include various aspects of chipped stone technologies, the origins of agriculture, and experimental archaeology. I enjoy writing and playing music, shooting disc golf, brewing beer, and making the best damn pizza in my hometown of Medicine Hat, Alberta.

I began work with Metcalf in 1990. I am a principal investigator in the Eagle office and currently serve on the Metcalf Board of Directors. Outside of Metcalf, I’ve conducted archaeology in the Midwest, on the Plateau, and in the Kingdom of Jordan.

Described by a colleague as an "archaeologist without borders", I have conducted fieldwork in North Dakota, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Italy, Greece, the UK, and virtual worlds. I led the archaeological team that excavated the Atari Dump Site in Alamogordo, NM, and was an archaeologist on the 100-mile transect of the ND Badlands conducted by Adventure Science for the Explorers Club. My PhD is in digital archaeology; I have published on human settlements in digital landscapes.

I started at Metcalf as an Arch Tech I in 2010, and have since worked my way up to Staff Archaeologist. My tasks are mostly office based, in support of several different project, marketing, and administrative tasks. Occasionally, I do venture into the field. The highlight of my career has been participation in the Wadi Yutm Archaeological Survey in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Outside of work, I love running, reading, and playing volleyball.

I am a Project Director at Metcalf with more than 30 years of archaeological inventory and excavation experience across the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, Wyoming Basin and Northern Plains. I am a specialist in the analysis of animal bone from archaeological sites and in site interpretation for the general public. I have experience working with both pre-contact and historic archaeological materials. My hobbies include collecting vintage flashlights and fishing.

I have directed projects in eight US states, on the island of Montserrat in the West Indies, in Jordan in the Middle East, and in Peru in South America. In over 25 years with Metcalf, I have directed many archaeological projects throughout the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains. I am currently seeking partners for a Modern Conflict Archaeology Project “Archaeology of the Night Climb: The Material Culture and Conflict Landscape of the 10th Mountain Division.”

I joined Metcalf in 2020 after a long federal and state career as an archaeologist, environmental specialist, and manager of a federal office. On the environmental side I have led teams preparing environmental impact statements in several states. As an archaeologist, I have conducted cultural resource projects in North Dakota, Montana, Colorado, Manitoba, and Egypt and served as the Chief Archaeologist for the North Dakota State Historic Preservation Office. I’m the fourth person in my family to work for Metcalf!

I am a graduate student at the University of Denver studying archaeology and have been in cultural resource management since 2015 having worked on projects from coast to coast in the continental United States. Since moving from Buffalo, NY in 2021, my archaeological focus has shifted from British Colonial sites to Indigenous North American and Anglo-European culture contact sites, though I have found interest in every aspect of archaeological research. My hobbies include hiking, skiing, dungeons and dragons, and going on small adventures with my partner and our dog.

I have a wide range of archaeological interests, and CRM provides me many opportunities to work with a large variety of cultural resources.

I joined Metcalf in 2023 as a Software Engineer, working to develop digitized solutions for data collection in CRM. I am incredibly excited to be working on a team where I can combine my love for tech and my interest in history and archeology. I am passionate about building intuitive tools that allow teams to collaborate more effectively and efficiently. When I am not working at Metcalf I spend my time coaching a youth climbing team and training for my own climbing goals

I joined the Metcalf team back in 2021 as an intern, and started full time after graduation with my Bachelor's Degree in Computer Systems Technology from the Kansas State University Salina Aerospace and Technology is Salina, KS. I'm thrilled to be using my software and problem solving skills to help the team optimize field recording and office/exporting flows. While I was disappointed to learn that archaeology isn't all about looking at dinosaur fossils, I'm thrilled to hear about all of the other cool CRM activities, like digging shovel probes, counting cans in ditches, and praising the regulatory agencies on their clear and easy to understand reporting standards

I have almost 10 years of CRM experience, between graduate school and Metcalf, working in Colorado, Montana, and Utah. Some of my research interests include Mayan burial practices, stone tool analysis, and most recently historic architecture.

I have worked in the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains, including Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana. I’m interested in the prehistoric Native American occupation of the High Plains, Rocky Mountains, and Western Slope of Colorado. I’m specifically interested in the interaction of groups inhabiting these regions and how that is manifested in the archaeological record.

I’ve worn out a lot of boots during nearly two decades of field experience, and prior to joining Metcalf in 2004, I worked for a variety of contractors in the midwest, plains, and Alaska. I was fortunate to volunteer at some of the oldest known sites in the Alaskan Beringian corridor. Based out of Grand Junction, my role at Metcalf includes working on an extensive array of projects across the plains and intermountain west.

I graduated from Colorado State University in May of 2024 with my M.A. in History with a concentration in Cultural Resource Management and Historic Preservation. In graduate school, I have worked as a research assistant and surveyor for NRHP-related projects and as an assistant historian in cultural resource consulting, which included conducting field surveys, drafting historic contexts, and completing architectural inventory forms. Outside of work, I love my pets, reading, and the outdoors.
